EXPLORING BHUTAN
EXPLORING BHUTAN
2009
The Kingdom of Bhutan is located at the eastern end of the Himalaya Mountains. It is bordered to the South, East and West by India and to the North by the Tibet. The people of Bhutan call their country Druk Yu, which means "Land of the Thunder Dragon."
While Bhutan used to be one of the most isolated nations in the world, it has opened itself to visitors in recent years. The country has balanced modernization with its cultural values. The Kingdom of Bhutan has also avoided the destruction of the environment. The country goes to great efforts to preserve the culture and landscape.
The regions of Bhutan vary greatly. The Northern region contains glaciated mountain peaks and is extremely cold. The central area of Bhutan contains the Black Mountains and a watershed between major rivers. The Southern region is covered with dense forests, river valleys, and smaller mountains.
On our trip, we visited all three regions. Come explore the beautiful country that welcomed us so warmly.
